We built this watch on our Instrument dial platform and added a signature element of this aircraft, our Tanker Boom chronograph! Our chestnut leather band with white stitching is a perfect fit for this watch. I'm very proud to own this watch. Special edition for crew of the KC-135 aircraft. Only 135 were made, this is #87. The details in this watch are amazing. Only the numbers 1, 3, & 5 on the watch face, the letters 'nkawtg' (No One Kicks Ass Without Tanker Gas) straddle where the 12 would be, 5 stars hearken to Strategic Air Command's patch.
As an official supplier of chronographs to many of the World's air squadrons and aerobatics team, Breitling produced a lot of special editions of the B-1 wristwatch bearing their logo on the dial, and sometimes with a customized engraving in the caseback. This is my KC-135 model. note the 1,3,5 which meant the date had to move to the 4 position. the GMT hand is customized to match the coloring of a 135 refueling boom. The watch featured a Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker, nicknamed the “flying gas station.” The only known example resides in the Ollech & Wajs archive. Most importantly, though, the KC-135 was the mid-air fueling plane for the B-52. A look at the current model.
