I have the YSL Haute Concentration and like it very much. Is the regular YSL worth getting if I already have the HC? Yves Saint Laurent Pour Homme Haute Concentration was launched in 1983. Top notes are Amalfi Lemon, Petitgrain and Carnation; middle notes are Rosemary, Patchouli and Tonka Bean; base notes are Woodsy Notes and Nutmeg.
The nose behind this fragrance is Raymond Chaillan. Top notes are Lemon, Lavender, Lemon Verbena, Petitgrain and Bergamot; middle notes are Rosemary, Geranium, Brazilian Rosewood, Marjoram, Clary Sage and Carnation; base notes are Vetiver, Musk, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Cedar, Tonka Bean and Amber. The vetiver base of Eau Sauvage is what makes that fragrance wonderful in my opinion. The vetiver is very noticeable in the dry down, but it's light as compared to more overpowering vetiver frags like Guerlain Vetiver or Tom Ford Grey Vetiver. Monsieur de Givenchy is light and refreshing. A truly classic timelessness. Chaillan goes away and decides, quite rightly, that what’s needed here is a citrus chypre: or, to put it a different way: a tried-and-tested cologne bolstered by meatier ingredients in the base.YSL pour Homme is lemon-bergamot plus a string of skillfully incorporated ingredients: lavender, lemon verbena, petitgrain; with spicy and floral notes of rosemary, carnation, clary sage, brazilian rosewood, geranium and marjoram; and all sitting atop a woody-sweet-musky sandalwood, tonka bean, amber, patchouli, musk, vetiver and cedar.
